AJF Scholarship Requirements

  1. Be a student or enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited institution of higher learning. Career training students are also encouraged to apply.
  2. Have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  3. Use the funds for the purpose of study (tuition or textbooks) at an accredited college, university, or career education institution.
  4. Only submit one entry per applicant per year. 



The Application Process

To apply for this scholarship, you must submit the following items: 

1.  A completed scholarship application. 

2. Write a 500-750 word essay on one of the following topics: 

  • What do you consider to be the most pressing societal problem we face today? Why? 
  • If you had the authority to change your community in a positive way, what specific changes would you make? 

3.   A copy of an acceptance letter from an accredited college, university, or career education institution. 

4.  Resume demonstrating your leadership, community service, and academic achievement. 

5.  Two letters of recommendation: 

  • College/University Students - one from a community leader and one from a teacher, professor, or counselor at your school. 
  • Career Education Students - one from a community leader and one from a mentor or work supervisor.  

6.  Evidence of Intellectual Achievement: 

  • College/University Students - a copy of your most recent grades or a transcript. 
  • Career Education Students - a copy of your most recent work performance evaluation or a community service certificate, plaque, etc. 

7.  Attach all required materials to an e-mail and submit to AJFscholarship@aol.com between March 15 and April 30 (every year). Incomplete packages will not be considered.

The Selection Process

The Board of AJF Scholarship & Achievement Foundation, Inc. will review all entries for academic composition, community involvement and essay design (to include content, grammar, writing style, and originality). Scholarship recipients will be announced on July 30 and will be invited to an awards presentation ceremony to be held shortly thereafter. All scholarship recipients must submit a photo to be used throughout all AJF Scholarship & Achievement Foundation, Inc. communications.
